January Message

This year is our 25th Anniversary!!  Certainly something to celebrate.  Each year the president sets a theme or focus for their presidency.  Some years it's about YEA, or Research and Promotion, etc.  This year I want to focus on inspiration.  How does one set out to inspire?  I find the many members that have been active in our chapter inspiring.  Some have been active for many of the 25 years.  That's inspiring and almost heroic.  Your participation and involvement is what allows our chapter to thrive and be successful.  Thank you.

At this point we would normally be talking about our January meeting, but it was moved to January 31st due to a snow storm.  Our December meeting was by Neal Fischer and Ed Allen with Multi-Aqua on Water Reclaimation Systems.  We want to thank Neal Fischer and Ed Allen for the great presentation.  Our January 31st meeting is at the Fratellos in Manchester where Harry Milliken will be discussing Natatorium design.  We also have a Joint meeting and facility tour on January 25th with AFE Chapter 140.  Tour will be at the Buderus facility followed by dinner at The Yard Restaurant on South Mammoth Road in Manchester.  Our February meeting will be Feb 9th at the Red Blazer Restaurant in Concord.

We continue to advertise our new website has changed to www.NHASHRAE.org.  This is big step towards achieving our goal of maintaining the new website monthly.  Our officers all have access and can update the site as a team.  It is a continuous work in progress, if you have not seen it, go check it out.  We are looking for feedback and was to grow or improve the site.

I want to remind us of our history.  ASHRAE, founded in 1894, is an international organization of some 55,000 members worldwide. ASHRAE fulfills its mission of advancing HVAC and Refrigeration to serve humanity and promote a sustainable world through research, standards writing, publishing & continuing education.

We are always looking for help on the Board Of Governors, committee chairs and officer positions.  We have a recent new addition to the Board Of Governors and want to welcome Tabitha Jason to the board.  Many of our committees are a committee of ONE.  We want to expand our committee, to at least TWO people and are in need of volunteers.  Not a large time commitment, maybe an few minutes responding to emails, work as a backup to the committee chair, no more than an hour or two a month.  Feel free to contact myself or any officer or BOG if interested.  With your involvement, you can be an inspiration for others.

Last topic is YEA, the Young Engineers in ASHRAE.  Our goal is to foster engineers under the age of 36.  Our chapter and really ASHRAE as a society cannot continue long-term without new incoming (Young and Active) members.  How can you help?  You can help identify and inspire young engineers to seek out ASHRAE, attend and become active in the chapter. Bring someone new.  Reach out to an existing member that has not been to a meeting in a while.  Just inspire and remove roadblocks to attending.

Our Board Of Governors, Committee chairs and Officers rock!  There is a lot of dedication and effort there.  Some BOG members have been active in the chapter since almost the very beginning.  Some help with the Maine chapter as well.  We are celebrating our 25th anniversary this year!  That goes to show the effort and dedication of our members.  A lot of dedication has gone into ASHRAE and keeping our chapter alive, and promoting the vision of ASHRAE.  We cannot do it without volunteers like you.  I personally am inspired by the dedication that many of our members show.  If you are not active and involved in the chapter, I encourage you to get involved.  That's how we make a difference.

Thank you,
Joshua Benoist, PE
