We are working this year to re-establish an ASHRAE Student Branch at UNH Durham. The first meeting at UNH to help to re-establish the student group will be on Wednesday October 10th at 6 PM. An email from President Paul Bemis went out to both the Civil and Mechanical Engineering students. The email invite is copied below:

My name is Paul Bemis and I am the President of the NH Chapter of ASHRAE. I am interested in restarting the UNH ASHRAE Student Chapter at UNH and would like to invite you to hear me speak about this over pizza and soda on Wednesday evening (10/11) at 6 PM. ASHRAE is a professional organization focused in the “built market” on the proper design of commercial and residential buildings. Here are a few of the many reasons for your involvement in ASHRAE;

  • Access to an organization 60,00 engineers worldwide who are passionate about the design and creation of energy efficient buildings.
  • Opportunity to apply and receive scholarships of up to $10,000
  • Design competitions like this years Applied Engineering Challenge (of which 5 UNH students are involved).
  • Job opportunities upon graduation in the design/build community
  • ASHRAE is the standards and technology research organization for the design of everything from skyscrapers to natatoriums and vivariums

The gathering will be in Kingsbury Hall in S145 at 6 PM. I will bring the pizza and soda and spend a few minutes showing you around the ASHRAE organization and answering questions. I encourage you to come along and eat some free pizza while becoming exposed to a very cool organization. For more information, check out the ASHRAE Student Zone.
